Oct 26 Pgm on Community Land Trusts: A Shared Equity Model

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond invites you to attend a forum on Community Land Trusts: A Shared Equity Model.

Targeted to affordable housing practitioners, banks, foundations, and local and state policy makers, this forum will provide an overview of how shared equity models generally, and community land trusts in particular, can preserve long-term affordable homeownership and
stabilize neighborhoods impacted by foreclosure.

Ryan Sherriff, Research Associate, Center for Housing Policy, will open the forum with a review the basics of establishing community land trusts.

John Davis, Partner, Burlington Associates in Community Development LLC and Emily Thaden, Shared Equity Development Specialist, The Housing Fund will then describe how community land trust structures vary in different kinds of real estate markets.

Sue Henderson, Associate General Counsel for Real Estate and Finance, Habitat for Humanity International, will facilitate a working lunch discussion with three organizations operating community land trusts in Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia as a solution to providing affordable housing and neighborhood stabilization in their own communities.
