The Wounded Warrior Home
Project |
U.S. military personnel wounded during active duty often begin their
state-side rehabilitation in homes ill-equipped to meet their altered physical
and mental health needs. The Wounded Warrior Home Project in Fort Belvoir,
Virginia, highlights accessible design in two model homes. Architect
Michael Graves,
FAIA;
Captain Alvin
Shell (U.S. Army, Ret.); and
Casey Nolan, Clark Realty
Capital, discuss the homes’ state-of-the-art universal design and the
applicability of these features in homes for veterans and seniors wishing to age
in place.
