It’s 1922. Ragtime music’s playing while prohibition is gaining ground. The 19th Amendment passed giving women the right to vote, and the world’s witnessing sweeping political, social and economic changes after the Great War. Here in Blacksburg, changes are happening and new buildings are being constructed on Virginia Tech’s campus and in downtown. The town is growing and a local theater was completed that year. This theater – the Lyric – is not the one we know and cherish today.
