Sept 16 PARK(ing) Day Activity in Silver Spring

We're glad to share this information from Sarah Lewis/CNU-DC:

"...We have a fun opportunity that just presented itself - PARK(ing) Day!

Can you take a break from your work this Friday?

MNCPPC just decided to launch a PARK(ing) Day activity in downtown Silver Spring. We are invited to do our thing and this is a great opportunity to advance "creativity in the public realm".

The Director has asked if we would like a space (or more than one) so this could be a great opportunity to try out some Tactical Urbanism cleverness. http://newurbannetwork.com/article/tactical-urbanism-seizes-day-14498
You may have your very own parking space OR join in enhancing one.

MNCPPC has permission to use the parking spaces along Ellsworth Street next to the Veterans Plaza - we have targeted this space for "Green the Plaza" tactical urbanism (which will now be in the spring). The space should be all set up and "in action" from 10 AM-2 PM -that means getting down there before then.
We - CNU-DC - just need to show up and be creative.

Margaret is contemplating creating a space that is an "outdoor office".
I’m thinking of bringing cardboard to spread out and construct my chairs (for another Tactical Urbanism intervention).
We will have a “Life’s a Beach” space if you want to just come and sit (bring your lunch for a picnic).
We also have sidewalk chalk if that sparks some creative ideas.

Shout back if you want "in" - this is a great opportunity and we could get some good visibility!
(If you want a space for your own company or for your own design/consulting business, we have room too.)

Keep it simple, have fun, and take pix for posting on the website.

Come to Third Thursday at Cleveland Park Bar & Grill (6pm at 3421 Connecticut Avenue NW) to talk about other ideas and possibilities too."
